Maine Food Exploration — Eventide Oyster Co.
I’ve been craving East Coast oysters for ages, and a trip to Maine wouldn’t be complete without indulging in some! This spot is highly recommended on Xiaohongshu as a must-visit in Maine. We braved the sweltering heat just to wait in line and give it a try. First, we waited 20 minutes just to get a queue number. Then we were told there’d be another 58-minute wait—so we popped over to Standard Baking Co. to curb our hunger first. Surprisingly, we got a text saying “table is ready” after only 20 minutes! We skipped the recommended baked seafood since my family isn’t a fan of steamed seafood, and I couldn’t finish it alone. Instead, I ordered a half-dozen oysters—playing it safe because I was worried about getting an upset stomach while out. But wow, they hit the spot! Popping one in my mouth at a time, they were so fresh 🦪. We also got the clam chowder 🥣—delicious! It totally outshone the clam chowder I had at that lobster spot in Edmonds, Seattle. Creamy but not greasy at all—I drank every last drop. The only letdown was the fried oysters. They were way too salty, so I don’t recommend them ❌. Overall, it was a satisfying experience—we checked it off our list without overeating. The only downsides? The wait was way too long, and it’s a bit pricey (about $3 per oyster). I still miss the $1 oysters I used to have at Newbury Puro—those were the days! #MaineOysters #MaineEats #MaineFoodHunt
