Mais Arepas

If I had to pick one favorite restaurant from all the places I’ve tried in New Orleans… it would absolutely be this Colombian spot—it’s just THAT delicious!! 😍 I noticed it doesn’t get much attention online, so I knew I had to write about it. It’s located near the WWII Museum, but the walk there felt a bit sketchy—I’d recommend taking a taxi or walking with a friend. 👭🚖 🍖 Carne Asada: Highly, highly recommend! My favorite dish of the meal! The aroma when it arrived was incredible. The beef was perfectly grilled—high quality, thick, and juicy. Every bite was pure satisfaction. I was still dreaming about this steak while editing the photos! 🥩✨ 🍲 Sancocho de Camaron: This soup was the daily special (not on the regular menu). Made with coconut, corn, and a mix of root vegetables—it was really tasty! 🥥🌽 🐟 Pescado Frito: Also a must-order! The frying style is similar to what I had in Puerto Rico—crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside. So flavorful, with no fishy taste at all! The rice had a subtle coconut fragrance that paired perfectly. 🍚💛 🍽️ Bandeja Paisa: A mixed platter of different meats. Great for sharing! I especially liked the sausage and the steak. 🌽 Maiz De La Rueda: This dish comes with 2 pieces (we added 2 more for our group of 4). Honestly… I didn’t get it. It was extremely sour—maybe skip this one unless you’re feeling brave! 🥴 💡 Tip: This place is popular! There was already a line before opening. I’d recommend calling ahead for a reservation. 📞⏳ Have you been to Mais Arepas? What’s your go-to Colombian dish?
