Day 1️⃣ Malaysia ✈️ Male The time difference between Malaysia and the Maldives is 3 hours—our flight took off at 10 AM from 🇲🇾 and landed at 11 AM in Male ☀️. We visited in mid-August, which is still the rainy season in the Maldives 🌧️. ⛴️ Male Airport → Male (public ferry): 💲2 for 2 people 🏨 Hotel Flora Inn: 💲80 + 💲6 environmental tax 🍽️ Meals: 💲87 for 2 people = 💲43.5 per person Day 2️⃣ Male ⛴️ Fushifaru Island We had to head to the ferry port early to buy tickets for the 10 AM ferry to Fushifaru. The sky was overcast that day 🥹, and sure enough, it started raining as we boarded. The ride from Male to Fushifaru takes 4 hours—if you want to arrive earlier, opt for a speedboat, since the ferry also stops at Maafushi. Between the heavy rain 🌧️ and big waves, the tourists in front of us got seasick... and I ended up joining them 🤢. But once we reached Fushifaru? It was so worth it 😍! ⛴️ Male → Fushifaru: 💲7 for 2 people 🏨 Kinan Boutique: 💲165 + 💲6 environmental tax 🍽️ Meals: 💲39 for 2 people = 💲19.5 per person Day 3️⃣ Fushifaru ⛴️ Maafushi After just one night on Fushifaru, I fell head over heels—it’s easily one of the most beautiful islands in the Maldives 🥰! Rainy days aren’t great for resort islands, so we headed to a residential island, and it wasn’t half bad 😌. Maafushi is more crowded, and the water isn’t as stunning as Fushifaru’s 🥹. We wanted to go out to sea, but all the day trips left in the morning—so we settled for evening fishing 🎣 and signed up for an excursion the next day. ⛴️ Fushifaru → Maafushi: 💲7 for 2 people 🏨 Kaani Palm Beach: 💲242 + 💲6 environmental tax 🍽️ Meals: 💲35 for 2 people = 💲17.5 per person 🤿🎣 Excursions: 💲210 for 2 people = 💲105 per person Day 4️⃣ Off to sea 🤿: Nurse sharks, shipwrecks The day I’d been waiting for—finally heading out to sea 🥺! We joined a tour with Kaani Hotel, leaving at 8:30 AM. 1st stop: Fushifaru to see stingrays 2nd stop: Nurse sharks 🦈—the local guides took us down one by one to take photos with them 3rd stop: Shipwreck—more laid-back; dive if you can, or just snorkel freely (Not a fan of this tour—the photos turned out terrible 😐; better to book with well-known ones like Shadow Palm or Icom.) Last stop: The longest sandbank in the Maldives for a picnic 🥪, then photos to wrap up. 🍽️ Meals: 💲51 for 2 people = 💲25.5 per person Day 5️⃣ Maafushi 🚤 Male Ferries are all off on Fridays 📅, so we took a speedboat back to Male Airport. 🚤 Maafushi → Male: 💲50 for 2 people 🍽️ Meals: 💲15 for 2 people = 💲7.5 per person If you love water activities, go for it! But don’t set your expectations too high for the food.
