Maldives Residential Islands: Maafushi + Fulidhoo Food Guide 🍮

We spent most of our time on day trips from Maafushi, so only managed 2 meals on the island. But Fulidhoo? We ate our way through it—here’s the lowdown, from hits to misses: Maafushi 1. MALADIWA MELON RESTAURANT A Xiaohongshu-famous spot 📾, and mostly lives up to the hype. The seafood platter was just so-so (nothing special), but everything else shined. The pizza? Way better than expected—crispy crust, melty cheese, and fresh toppings that made us glad we didn’t skip it 🍕. 2. Navio Right by the pier ⚓, it has low ratings on Dazhongdianping but high marks on Google—and we get why. The pineapple fried rice was great: sweet-savory, with chunks of pineapple 🍍 and shrimp that popped. The pizza was solid (not as good as Melon’s, but still tasty). Only letdown? The chicken chop with fries—dry and unmemorable 🍟. Fulidhoo 1. Chinese Restaurant The only place we ate at twice—worth every bite ❀. The menu lists prices in USD, but if paying in local currency, the rate is 1:18 (you can even ask the owner to exchange money at this rate, handy!). Dishes take about 30 minutes, but it’s worth the wait: the tomato and egg stir-fry tasted like home (fluffy eggs, tomatoes stewed to a pulp) 🍳, and there’s a secret menu too—ask for instant noodles if you’re craving something familiar 🍜. 2. Cafe De Orzo A total disaster of a meal đŸ’„. The two plates of penne? Salty and sour, like someone dumped extra vinegar and salt đŸ€ą. The stir-fried noodles and fried rice were below average too. The only saving grace? The fries—crispy and well-seasoned 🍟. Skip everything else. 3. Kunaa Cafe & Bistro Fulidhoo’s “internet-famous spot” 📾, and the only one that charges a service fee. It’s always busy đŸ‘„, which means slow service—both for food and checkout ⏳. The food is better than Orzo’s, but nothing mind-blowing. Case in point: the beef burger (90 MVR) surprisingly had two slices of sauced beef instead of a patty—odd, but edible 🍔❓. 4. Seaside Sizzle Not listed on review apps, but recommended by Google—and we’re glad we followed the tip 👍. Most dishes hit the mark: the beef burger had a proper juicy patty (a relief after Kunaa’s) 🍔, and the grilled fish was fresh with a zesty sauce 🐟. Only the chicken kebab rice was a bit dry, but still way better than the misses on the island. Second only to the Chinese restaurant in our books. Pro tip for payments: When paying in USD, places usually use a 1:15 rate (worse than the local currency rate of 1:18). So always pay in local currency if you can—your wallet will thank you 💾. #Maafushi #Fulidhoo #MaldivesResidentialIslands #MaldivesFoodGuide #TravelEats
