Miami | Perez Art Museum, An Exquisite Tropical Garden đŽđș
The Perez Art Museum, brilliantly designed by Herzog & de Meuron, is beautifully situated in downtown Miami right next to Biscayne Bay. đ The entire structure is elevated one level for flood protectionâa smart and necessary feature in this coastal city! đïž The ground level is paved extensively with gravel, a rare and striking treatment that leaves a lasting impression. đȘš The entrance, with its long steps taking advantage of the slope, faces the open seaâa perfect spot for reading or daydreaming! đâš The landscape design is remarkably restrained, avoiding flashy lines to instead highlight the buildingâs form and materials. đïž The combination of concrete with precise, clean-cut textures is simply stunning! đ Beyond the ground-level landscaping, the green columns hanging from the shades are real eye-catchers. đż Numerous tropical plants are grown in fiberglass containersâcheck out Figure 6 for some of the installation details! đž When looking back at this project, I discovered itâs an ASLA award-winning design from 2015âhow cool is that? đ Itâs amazing that after all these years, it still feels fresh and timeless when you experience it in person! âš Whatâs your favorite featureâthe gravel paving, the hanging plants, or the sea-view stairs?
