Michelin Miss... but the Coconut Jelly Saves the Day! 🥥✨
Bangkok|Por. Pochaya I had super high expectations for this Thai restaurant. It’s been a Michelin recommended spot for 6 years straight, and even received the Bib Gourmand for the past 3 years. This old restaurant, passed down for three generations, has been around for over half a century. But their opening hours are super strict: Closed on weekends and only open 9am-1pm on weekdays! I’ve been dying to try it for so long, and finally got the chance. So, I ordered all their signature dishes. Crab Omelette This dish can easily be too oily, but theirs was just right—golden, fragrant, and tender. Every bite was full of sweet, fresh crab meat! 🦀🍳 Tom Yum Soup Not heavy on the coconut milk, it was light, sour, and spicy, with a fresh taste. The shrimp were large, bouncy, and tender (though they didn’t clean the veins properly). I also liked the chicken mushrooms in the soup. 🍤🍄 Garlic Fried Prawns 🌟 The ingredients were top-notch, and the shrimp were so tender. Coated in crispy fried garlic, each bite was bursting with flavor. One plate was definitely not enough! 😭🦐 Cashew Chicken A signature dish, fried and covered in a sweet and spicy sauce. Tasty, but the chicken was a bit over-fried, not tender enough. They were generous with the crunchy cashews, though! 🌰🍗 Thai Basil Beef 👎🏻 I never thought Thai people could make this dish so badly. The beef was way too tough to chew, and had no flavor. Coconut Jelly 🌟 Absolutely mind-blowing! One sip of the chilled coconut water was so refreshing and sweet, and incredibly fresh. It had large chunks of soft coconut meat, and underneath was a silky coconut milk pudding. As I scooped deeper, I found even more hidden coconut! Honestly, one per person was not enough! 🥥💖 Overall, the food didn’t live up to the hype. The only standout dishes were the garlic prawns and the coconut jelly. They were so good, they made up for the rest of the meal! #GlobalFoodieSquad #ThaiFood #StreetEats #BangkokMichelin #BangkokFoodie #BangkokEats #BangkokMustTry #Thailand #BangkokFoodFinds
