Michigan Hidden Gem Road Trip๏ฝDay 6: Ann Arbor โ The Final Stop ๐๏ธ๐
Our last stop on the Michigan off-the-beaten-path loop was Ann Arbor! ๐๐ So many lab colleagues graduated from here โ Iโve always wanted to visit, and finally made it part of this trip! We started by wandering around the University of Michigan campus โ and wow, itโs beautiful! Compared to my red-brick tech school in the middle of cornfields ๐, the architectural styles here really stood out. The Law Library is absolutely stunning โ I could totally imagine studying comfortably there! ๐โจ The campus also blends in modern buildings like the Business School and museums โ a nice mix of old and new. Of course, our first mission was FOOD! ๐ A friend from Ann Arbor recommended Tomukun Korean BBQ. We excitedly went โ itโs near campus, across from a fancy-looking theater. Well, honestlyโฆ it was just okay. It didnโt live up to the hype for us. They use electric grills (no charcoal ๐ข), so it felt like something I could make at home. The meat stuck to the grill easily, and the quality was just decent. The cold noodles and kimchi pancake were underwhelming too. Overall, a bit overrated โ but the service was friendly! ๐ Manage your expectations if you go. The next day, we tried Joeโs Pizza on campus ๐ โ also pretty average, nowhere near as good as the one in Times Square (disappointed!). Tastes different once it becomes a chain, I guess. But right around the corner, thereโs a bubble tea place called Sweeting โ their taro paste drink (something like "Taro Mudfall") was pretty nice! ๐ง๐ Verdict: Fell in love with the campus, but maybe we just didnโt find the right food spots this time ๐. Next time, Iโll go when my local friends can take me around! Also heard thereโs amazing Chinese food in Lansing (west of here) โ definitely making a trip there soon! ๐ฅข๐ฅ #Michigan #AnnArbor #UMich #AnnArborEats #HiddenGems #KoreanBBQ #TravelDiary
