1️⃣ UNESCO World Heritage: Nan Madol 🏝️ The "Venice of the Pacific"! 2️⃣ What is Nan Madol? 📍 An ancient abandoned city on the eastern coast of Pohnpei, Micronesia. 🌊 Built on coral reefs & artificial islets, spanning 18 km². 🛶 A maze of tiny islands & canals—locals call it "the space between islands" (literally!). 🏛️ Served as the capital of the Saudeleur Dynasty until ~1500 AD! 3️⃣ History & Mysteries 👑 Once a political/religious hub (population: ~25,000!). ⏳ Earliest structures date back to 1st-2nd century BC (!!), but the iconic megalithic ruins were built in the 12th-13th century. 4️⃣ The Legend of the Flying Stones 🧙♂️ Local myth says a powerful sorcerer made giant stones "fly" from quarries to build Nan Madol!
