Milwaukee Food Guide: A Delicious Surprise! 🍽️✨
Over Labor Day weekend, we took a relaxed road trip from Minnesota to Milwaukee, Wisconsin 🚗💨. As a self-proclaimed “senior-style tour group,” we spent three days and two nights exploring—and every meal was a win! Here are my genuine recommendations to support this underrated food city: 1. Sze Chuan Restaurant The best of the trip! As someone from Chengdu, I found their grilled fish authentic enough to rival those hidden gems on Kehua North Road. The mouthwatering chicken was tender with crispy skin, and the snow cabbage with tofu skin was delicious too! 2. St. Paul Fish Company 🐟🦪 Highly recommended by many—waited an hour at 6 PM on a Saturday. Blue Point oysters: $1.75 each, fresh but small Lobster roll: packed with meat, sweet and crispy Fried cod (server’s recommendation): solid choice Clam chowder: decent | Piña Colada: okay | Red Stripe beer: surprisingly good! 🍺 3. Lakefront Brewery Tour 🍻🏭 $13 for a one-hour guided tour + 4 beer samples + a quality pint glass (which you can refill!). Great fresh beer—super worth it! 4. Thainamite Brady 🍳🇹🇭 A casual Thai spot near the brewery. Not super hungry, so we tried: Hawaiian fried rice Pad Thai (wrapped in a cute egg blanket 👌) Perfect for a light meal! 5. Mad Rooster Cafe 🥑🍳 The best brunch I’ve had in the Midwest (beating Minneapolis and Chicago!). Rich coffee, homemade granola Greek yogurt with honey and fresh fruits Avocado Salmon Benedict Mad Omelet with avocado, giant mushrooms, and two pancakes 🥞 Portions were huge—we took half to go! ~$25 per person after tax. 6. Lucky Bakery & BBQ 🥮🍖 Grabbed roast pork and half a roast duck before heading back. Couldn’t resist sneaking a bite—the char siu had a special spice blend that was irresistible! The duck smelled amazing—saved it for dinner 😉 #Milwaukee #Wisconsin #FoodieFinds #HiddenGems #USATravel
