Milwaukee Weekend Day Trip 🌞🏙️
On the first weekend of August, during the scorching summer heat, we kicked off our day trip to Milwaukee—just as Zheng Qinwen made history by winning the Olympic tennis women's singles gold medal (so excited!!! 🎾🥇). Located less than a two-hour drive from Chicago, Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin: Milwaukee Public Market: Since we started a bit late, our first stop was lunch. We tried the highly recommended lobster roll from ST. Paul Fish Company—it was decent but not mind-blowing. The market itself is fun to explore, with plenty of cheese, beer, and fresh food options. 🧀🍻 Mitchell Park Domes Horticulture Conservatory: After lunch, we visited this greenhouse conservatory. There are three glass domes to explore, and the experience was well worth the $9 ticket. 🌵🌸 Harley-Davidson Museum: Next, we toured the Harley-Davidson Museum, which showcases 120 years of motorcycle history. The exhibition is incredibly well-designed, featuring various models and parts, and even includes a test ride area at the end! Highly recommended—full marks for experience! 🏍️🔥 Milwaukee Art Museum: Located by the sparkling Lake Michigan, the museum resembles a white seagull perched on a mast. Its “wings” adjust throughout the day to control light inside. The interior is mostly pure white—clean and luminous. It’s truly the city’s iconic landmark. At first, it reminded me of the Oculus at the World Trade Center in NYC—turns out it was designed by the same architect! Definitely a must-see. 🏛️✨ North Point Lighthouse: After the museum, we took a stroll along the lake and visited this charming lighthouse. 🚨🌊 AltThai: For dinner on the way back, we stopped at this Thai restaurant near Arlington Heights. It was pretty good—worth a try if you’re in the area. 🍛😊 Andy’s Frozen Custard: This ice cream-style dessert is a calorie bomb… but totally worth it! Andy’s is delicious—if you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out! 🍦💥 #Weekend #Naperville #Chicago #Milwaukee #WeekendGetaway 🚗💨
