Miraval Austin - A Quick Escape 🏞️
The Ultimate "White Women Vibe" Episode 👱♀️✨ When I first dipped into the Hyatt universe, I discovered Miraval, an all-inclusive wellness brand. The promo videos looked fascinating, so I’d been planning to try it out. This time, since my partner was attending an academic conference in Houston, we decided to unwind at Miraval Austin for two days afterward. Tucked away in the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, the resort borders the winding Colorado River—secluded, serene, and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. 🌿💧 Compared to other Miraval properties, this one highlights crystals and minerals… and they’re seriously pretty. 💎 The main selling points: Activities like archery 🏹, axe throwing 🪓, horse grooming 🐴, rock climbing, goat feeding & chick cuddling 🐐🐥, "white people food" cooking classes 🥗, fitness sessions, hiking 🥾, and meditation No tipping allowed 🙅♀️💵 Delicious and healthy "white people food" 🥑🍋 Most guests were white women, with a few slightly-out-of-place white husbands, and even fewer people of other ethnic backgrounds. The cash rate for two nights would’ve been around $4,000 💸, but we used 65k Hyatt points + a Miraval BOGO certificate. Note: the BOGO night doesn’t include resort credit, so we each got $175 credit per person for the stay. Activities range from free to paid—being on a budget, we stuck to 2-3 free activities per day and used our credits on spa treatments. 💆♀️💆♂️ The food was great, but late-night options were slim. You can grab smoothies or snacks from the Cafe in advance. We mostly survived thanks to the Wenzhou-style duck tongues we dug out from our luggage. 🦆👅 According to folks online, May is supposed to be the ideal time to visit Austin. But we accidentally booked during a heatwave and ended up sweating through 37°C (99°F) days. 🔥🥵 Definitely check the weather before booking! Funny enough, we met quite a few guests from Boston and even became friends with a lovely, kind-hearted white woman. 👭❤️ Coming from STEM backgrounds, we’re pretty grounded in science—so all the talk about "energy and magnetic fields" wasn’t really our thing. We also have some background in philosophy. Whether it’s seeking enlightenment beyond the mundane, refining sincerity through action, or embracing the will to create rather than just experience—we didn’t have high expectations for a place like Miraval. But honestly, it exceeded expectations. Not because Miraval "solves" anything or "heals" wounds… Sometimes we grip too tightly, become too serious with ourselves, and unknowingly layer on arrogance and blind spots. Miraval says "be here now;" Heidegger talks about "Dasein." Maybe what they share is gently loosening the self-obsession and self-deception of modern life. 🧘♂️🌌 Final recommendations: Archery and crystal meditation. At Miraval, these—both dynamic and calm—become exercises in hermeneutics and genealogy. 🏹🔮 #Austin #UnwindAndRecharge #HiddenGemTravel 💫
