🎨 Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery - GAM 🖼️

Turin's Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery GAM - GALLERIA CIVICA D'ARTE MODERNA E CONTEMPORANEA was established in 1895 and is Italy's first museum dedicated to collecting modern art works. It currently houses approximately 45,000 pieces, with the core collection consisting of over 39,000 graphic art works. 🆕 Recent Exhibition: Berthe Morisot Impressionist Painting Exhibition Italy has been experiencing continuous rain lately, but starting in October, Turin's museums have begun new exhibitions, with GAM's Impressionist painting exhibition being the first. With special support from the Marmottan Monet Museum in Paris, during the international year of Impressionism, from October 16, 2024, to March 9, 2025, Turin's GAM - the Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art - is hosting the exhibition "Berthe Morisot, Impressionist Painter," celebrating the historical and artistic journey of the only female among the founders of the Impressionist movement. The exhibition features about 50 works, including renowned paintings, drawings, and prints from famous public institutions such as the Marmottan Monet Museum in Paris, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Pau, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Institut National d'Histoire de l'Art (INHA) in Paris, and significant private collections. The exhibition traces Berthe Morisot's life and career, from her artistic and human exchanges with Édouard Manet to her complete adherence to Impressionist poetry. GAM's three new exhibitions featuring Berthe Morisot, Mary Heilmann, and Maria Morganti have inspired a new layout for the permanent collection: Light, Color, Time. The first and second floors of the museum reopened to the public on October 16, 2024, with a new layout coordinated with the fall exhibition, divided into fifteen rooms. In addition, a part of the second floor has been transformed into a "living deposit," a display that mimics the museum's deposits, allowing visitors to enjoy a dense and ever-changing environment of works. 🌟 Those who love Impressionist paintings and are interested in GAM's brand-new layout after the renovation can find time to visit the exhibition. 🎈 Museum Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-18:00 #Italy #Museum #Exhibition #TravelGuide #Turin #CulturalAttractions
