Montréal | 🔥 The Legendary Guobaorou Lives Up to Its Hype!

Lately, my feed has been flooded with posts about this Chinese restaurant on the South Shore, and since I was craving Guobaorou (sweet and sour pork), I decided to try the so-called "best in Montréal." And wow—it absolutely lives up to its reputation! Le Ming Chuan is actually a fusion of Sichuan and Northeastern Chinese cuisine, but both styles are incredibly authentic. Plus, the prices are super reasonable. 🐖 Guobaorou (Sweet & Sour Pork) They claim it’s authentic old-school Northeastern-style (though I’m not from Dongbei, so I can’t verify). But who cares? It’s delicious! The batter is perfectly even, with a crispy, slightly airy texture—maybe from sweet potato starch or baking soda in the coating. The sweet-and-sour sauce is perfectly balanced—tangy, appetizing, and not overly sticky or heavy. Pro tip: Eat it fresh at the restaurant for the best experience! 🐟 Douhua Yu (Tofu Fish) The most authentic version I’ve had in Montréal! The tofu isn’t real silken tofu, but it’s also not the firm, bland kind you get elsewhere—no beany aftertaste. The fish slices are tender, though the starch coating is a bit too thick, giving them a slightly odd texture. The broth is flavorful (not the generic sauce-packet taste you find at many Chinese spots), and the portion is huge! 🐔 Sanbeiji (Three Cup Chicken) Surprise—this Taiwanese dish made the menu! The chicken is fantastic—big chunks but still juicy, bouncy, and coated in that rich, savory sauce. Perfect with rice. 🥒 Dongbei Dala Pi (Northeastern Cold Skin Noodles) Just like the ones I ate as a kid! The noodles are thick, chewy, and delightfully springy, tossed in a nostalgic sesame sauce. Final Verdict: 4.5/5 This place was a huge surprise—delicious, affordable, and totally worth the trip. My only complaint? It’s kinda far from downtown, otherwise I’d be here all the time! 😆 🏠 Le Ming Chuan 📍 8200 Bd Taschereau, Brossard, QC J4X 2S6 #MontrealEats #MontrealFoodie #ChineseCuisine
