Morel Mushrooms🍄 Taro Porridge🍯 Farmers Market Is Open!

The summer Downtown Farmers’ Market has begun—it was already packed by 10 AM! 🅿️ Parking is available at the Gateway, just a 10-minute walk away. If you’re with kids, park near the planetarium—after shopping, you can let the kids play there while you take a break. 🚶‍♀️🧒 The regular guitarist was there, but this year, the traditional owl 🦉 and harp fairy were missing… Morel mushrooms 🍄‍🟫, free-range eggs 🐣, fresh bread 🥖, herbs 🌿… It’s still a great place to explore, though most vegetable and fruit stalls weren’t fully set up yet—only a strawberry stand 🍓 was there. Organic Farms 🥚 This is basically why I come to the Farmers’ Market: grass-fed free-range chickens, eggs, organic pasture-raised beef… "We are what we eat," folks! The colorful free-range eggs are incredibly fragrant—way better than anything from the supermarket. Mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 The usual mushroom stall was there—I bought some morels to make soup at home! Bread 🥖 Several bakeries were present. The German bakery Vosen’s has a physical store nearby—I’ve written about it before (search my homepage for details!). Forty Three’s pastries 🥐 are delicious! This year, they started selling trail mix in cute transparent boxes—sugar-coated and definitely tasty. Volker’s had a large stall as always, with samples available, but the texture was just okay. Antiques 🎻 I love browsing the "old and quirky" crafts section—gramophones, music boxes… I never get tired of them! I also enjoy visiting used bookstores in my free time. Seedlings 🌿 You can buy ready-to-use spices or seedlings to grow at home. Lemon Balm is my favorite—it has a sweet lemon candy aroma, and historically, people used it in hot tea 🍵 to soothe coughs and care for their throats. 9 Up Taiwanese-Japanese Cuisine 🎏 Last year’s dark horse is back! Their new posters are beautiful. They specialize in braised pork rice, beef rice bowls 🍛, and other snacks. I love their taro sago dessert 🍧—it has big chunks of taro and isn’t too sweet. Apple Cider Donuts 🍩 Kids absolutely adore these—they disappear in just a few bites! The vendor is super friendly. Lemonade 🍹 ❌ Not recommended. It looks cute with little flags, but it’s overly sweet. Worse, their eco-friendly straws break easily ‼️ It’s risky for kids ⚠️—mine broke halfway through drinking and ended up in the cup. Not cool! Most stalls accept Apple Pay, but some only take cash 💰 or Venmo. Bringing a stroller is handy for carrying things, but wagons are less practical due to the gravel paths and crowds—it gets too tight! #SaltLakeCity #SLCFood #Utah #SummerEssentials #SeasonalFavorites #FarmersMarket #LocalEats #OrganicGoods #FamilyFun #SupportLocal
