Munich El Gaucho Steak + Foie Gras
đToday is my friendâs birthday, so we decided to check out this steakhouse that Iâve had on my list for a while! Mainly came for the foie gras. For the appetizer, we ordered fried octopus, which was a bit shocking at 21 euros for such a small portion. But the taste was really good, crispy on the outside and tender, juicy, and not fishy inside. They also had beef tartare, but neither of us likes raw meat, so we didnât order it. đFor the steak, we went for the dry-aged 400g ribeye since itâs the minimum order for this series. This series also includes sirloin, t-bone, and tomahawk starting at 800g, but theyâre all shareable; the ribeye is the best among them! Marbled with fat and a bit of tendon, the medium rare was incredibly tender. I just canât achieve this at home. The queenâs cut, 280g for 44 euros, comes with a bone and feels like a bad deal, but itâs the juiciest; đThe premium platter is not highly recommended. Besides the ribeye and rump, the other cuts were really tough, especially the huft. Even at medium rare, it was hard to cut, too lean. đThe foie gras is the highlight! 10 euros a piece! This seems to be the first time Iâve had a whole piece of fried foie gras in Munich; before, it was always spread on bread. It really melts in your mouth! So good it brings tears to your eyes. đSide dishes are 5-6 euros each, the fries are delicious! The roasted vegetables were all bell peppers. Sauces are also ordered separately, each 4 euros. We ordered a black truffle aioli, but the steak didnât need any sauce at all; the chefâs seasoning was just right. We used the sauce for the fries instead, perfect. #GermanLife #MunichFoodExploration #Steak #AtmosphericRestaurant #MeatLover #FoodDiary #FoieGras #RibeyeSteak #SirloinSteak #TomahawkSteak
