Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal: A Masterpiece Encyclopaedia! 🖼️🎨
With over 47,000 treasures—Monet, Renoir, Dalí, Picasso—this museum draws 1M+ visitors yearly. 👀👨🎨 🤯👩A cultural heart of Montréal, split by Sherbrooke St: historic charm on one side, modern flair on the other. We wandered through galleries filled with oil paintings, sculptures, porcelain, and curios—realism, romanticism, modernism… a kaleidoscope of art! 🌈🖌️ Though I couldn’t read the French labels, my museum-docent past (teaching “European Art 101”) helped me spot Renoir, Monet, and Picasso—all correctly ID’d by my son later! 🤯👩👦 And then… Napoleon! In a third-floor corner, I reunited with the emperor, thanks to the just-ended “From Ordinary to Extraordinary: Napoleon & Revolutionary France” exhibit. 👑🎨 Gros’ Napoleon’s Coronation and a marble bust stole the show. 🌈🖌️ A painting of Napoleon showing his son’s portrait to generals before Borodino revealed his softer side. 👶🗡️ And a display of fully unwrapped Napoleonic toiletries—a rare sight!🖼️🎨 Lastly, a porcelain-and-oil combo left me awestruck: Chinese Jingdezhen vases, German Frankfurt pieces, Turkish tiles, and European still lifes featuring Chinese porcelain. 🇨🇳🌍 A testament to global art exchange! MUST-VISIT! Add this gem to your Montréal bucket list. 🌟 #MBAM #MontréalCulture #CanadaTravel
