π The Royal Palace of Amsterdam is the most representative and grand building of the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th century. Initially, it was not built as a palace but as the city hall of Amsterdam. Therefore, as a "palace," it might not look as grand as those in other countries, but as a "city hall," it undoubtedly showcases the most splendid era of Amsterdam during the Golden Age. π The first thing you see when entering the palace is the statue above the hall, depicting Atlas from Greek mythology holding up the sky, symbolizing how Amsterdam supported the Golden Age of navigation.
