Must-Visit Art Museum in Philadelphia: The Museum of Art
Philadelphia Museum of Art If you come to Philadelphia and don't visit this museum, it's like you haven't really been here! I personally think it's just as impressive as the MET. As soon as you walk in, the three-story-high hall is so elegant and grand! In the niche stands a statue of the goddess Diana, who is as tall as a whole floor (funny enough, now that I'm writing in my diary, I realize this sculpture is of the same goddess I really liked at the MET, though the one at the MET is a bit smaller π It seems I have a thing for Diana). The columns in the main exhibition hall are designed to echo the goddess, all in a more exquisite version of the Ionic Order with special decorations, contrasting with the Corinthian columns on the back facade shown in figure 4. The details are truly top-notch! The exhibits inside the hall are incredibly rich and diverse. I headed straight to the third floor, which is the most content-packed, because it has many historical architectural exhibition halls with various styles. (The third floor has spacious halls, high ceilings, and plenty of natural light, making it perfect for taking photos πΈ We split up that day to save time and didn't take many photos, which made me a bit sad.) There are not only European classical Roman styles but also Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic Islamic ones. It's truly a dazzling array! "Our museum just has too much money and wants to collect everything!" It's like a big melting pot. However, we arrived a bit late, and Monet's "Water Lilies," Van Gogh's "Sunflowers," Renoir's "Bather," and Degas' "Dancer" are all on the second floor. We didn't have enough time to take photos of them. After being ushered out, I saw online that they also have works by Duchamp! It's such a pity I didn't get to see his "Fountain." So, friends, learn from our mistake: always do your homework in advance and don't be lazy like us, or you'll miss out on so many amazing things! When you leave, be sure to take a few photos at the entrance, because the museum is located on Fairmount Hill, offering a breathtaking view of Philadelphia's downtown. There's also a huge Rocky statue in the garden below, where many foreign tourists line up to take photos LOL (my friend and I also joined the queue, with a bunch of muscular guys behind us. As two delicate girls, posing for photos was so awkward it made us want to dig a three-bedroom apartment out of the ground π₯Ή, but it was definitely an experience +1) Ladies, you have to go! The quality of this art museum is really top-notch, and it's not crowded at all. You can take photos freely without anyone competing for the spot π Unlike New York or Washington, D.C., where it's so packed. #MuseumVisit #Museum #Art #Philadelphia #CulturalSiteShare #Architecture #WeekendPlans #Photography #PhiladelphiaMuseumOfArt #USATravel #Travel #HiddenGems
