Must-Visit in Rio de Janeiro—Royal Portuguese Library
✨The Royal Portuguese Library (Portuguese: Real Gabinete Português de Leitura), located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was once named one of the most beautiful libraries in the world by Time magazine. The library houses the first edition of Os Lusíadas (1572), a renowned Portuguese literary work, as well as numerous precious books published in the 16th century. Additionally, it preserves handwritten manuscripts by Portuguese authors and hundreds of letters from writers.📜 🏛️Manueline architecture is a unique 16th-century Portuguese Gothic style, with decorative elements inspired by Portugal's maritime achievements (ropes, marine life, navigation equipment, etc.). 🧱The library's exterior wall is also a work of art, crafted by Germano José Salle in Lisbon using Royal Stone and shipped to Rio. The statue in the center depicts Pedro Álvares Cabral. The reading room features a beautiful chandelier on the ceiling and a skylight with an iron structure, the first of its kind in Brazilian architecture of this type. # Royal Portuguese Library #Rio de Janeiro#Brazil#travel guide#library
