My Loup in Philly: Historic City, Modern French Bistro 🇫🇷✨
Last year, three Philly restaurants debuted on the US Michelin list. Unfortunately, during my visit at the end of the holiday season, they were either closed or fully booked. So I chose My Loup, another restaurant by one of the acclaimed chefs—not starred, but award-winning in its own right. Located near City Hall, surrounded by stylish boutiques, the entrance is understated. But step inside—it’s a whole different world. Tables, booths, and larger dining areas stretch back, nearly full, lit by candlelight and filled with lively chatter. Cozy and vibrant compared to the chilly streets outside. We started with a glass of white wine and dove in. 🐚 Razor Clam Salad – Razor clams served back in their shell with artichoke, tangy and savory. The seasoning highlights the clam’s natural sweetness, while crispy quinoa adds texture. 🐌 Signature Escargot Roll – Shelled snails wrapped in garlic butter and baked into layered dough. Served with a ring of stewed snails and a snowfall of Parmesan. A delicious tangle of garlic, butter, and toasted pastry—crispy outside, tender inside. 🦆 Stuffed Quail – A French classic: quail stuffed between skin and meat with sausage and brioche crumbs (inspired by American Thanksgiving stuffing). Tender, springy, and studded with diced apple for sweetness and freshness. Served with a glossy cider-based sauce and balanced with Brussels sprouts. 🥬 Cabbage Baked with Apple – Added this out of curiosity after overhearing another guest rave. Cabbage leaves layered with apple slices, baked until tender and sweet. Topped with nut crisps for crunch—simple but clever. Four dishes showcased solid French technique and thoughtful seasoning—rich but not heavy, in a relaxed, joyful atmosphere. No wonder it’s so popular. Would definitely return. #PhillyFood #FrenchCuisine #MyLoup #ModernFrench #PhillyEats #DateNight #FoodieExperience
