My UK Food Journey So Far… Only ONE Good Meal?! 😮‍💨🍽️

I’ve been traveling around the UK for days, and honestly—only one meal truly hit the spot 😅 Here’s my real talk food review: 1️⃣ Victoria House Coffee & Food ✅ 👑 THE one good meal I’ve had! Highly recommend! The food was delicious, and the service? Absolutely warm and welcoming ☕❤️. When I didn’t like my coffee, they happily changed it. When I felt hot inside, they moved me to a lovely outdoor table 🪑🌿. They kept checking if I was enjoying everything. I left feeling so valued—happily paid the service charge! 👍 2️⃣ Da Mario (Italian) 🍝 Just got back from this “popular” spot in Gloucester. Super busy—everyone recommends it, so I gave it a shot. Walked 30 mins in 30°C heat 🥵, opened the menu… £20.90 for seafood pasta?! Almost fainted 😵. Food looked pretty, tasted… okay. Not amazing. Service? Non-existent. A heavier-set waitress had a scowling face the whole time 😒. Took ages to get water. And when I asked to remove the service charge? She didn’t even fake a “thank you”. So I didn’t fake one either. 3️⃣ Comptoir Libanais (Lebanese) 🥙 ⚠️ Never trust a restaurant full only with British people! Ordered rice—came mixed with a crazy sour salad 🥗. The chicken was dry and tough. But the service was kind! I asked to remove the service charge—they did it politely, no questions. 4️⃣ Fishoria Fish & Chips 🐟🍟 The national dish—cod was decent, but chips were meh. The “fresh” orange juice? Came straight from a carton—tasted like airplane juice ✈️😖. 5️⃣ Go Viet (Vietnamese) 🍜 A classic? Maybe. Food was alright, not great. But the service attitude—UGH! 😡 I asked to remove service charge. The waitress said, “What’s the reason?” I said, “There wasn’t much service.” She replied, “Next time get takeaway—then no service charge. We served you water and brought food.” Ma’am… isn’t that your job? 😒 Do you get paid just for being here? She made me think service charge was mandatory—which is why I paid it at the fish & chips place. Only at the Lebanese spot did I learn: you CAN remove it. 🍰☕ Shoutout to the amazing French patisserie and coffee I had in Canterbury though! A sweet escape 🥐💖 Getting used to prices that keep climbing… 📈💸 #UK #London #Travel#UKFoodReview #LondonEats #ServiceChargeDebate #TravelUK #HonestReviews #FoodieRant
