Nashville is so delicious!
I went on a 6-day road trip in the Midwest last week. I’ve already shared the detailed itinerary—you can check out the post. This follow-up is a record of what I ate, listed in order of preference: ✅ I’ll write separately about the carb spots from the Midwest trip! 1️⃣ Shotgun Willie’s 🥩 Brisket & Rib 📝 I lined up for this super popular BBQ before boarding the plane. The brisket was moist, and the pork ribs fell off the bone. Both meats were so delicious that my roommate ate them with tears in their eyes, praising them as being on par with Texas BBQ. I, on the other hand, loved the sides—the baked beans were soft and flavorful. 2️⃣ Hattie’s B 🍔 Chicken Sandwich 📝 At the food hall in The Factory at Franklin, I had the spicy chicken sandwich my roommate had been craving for years. 🍔 🍵This time, I tried the "Damn Hot" level (the second spiciest), which made me break out in a sweat on my forehead. It uses chicken breast but is juicy, not dry. 3️⃣ Arnold’s Country Kitchen 🥩 Meat & Veggie 📝 Recommended by Sb Feed Phil, it’s like a cafeteria-style dining spot with affordable prices per person! 🍶 The moist roast beef drizzled with gravy was amazing, and the sauce-coated beef ribs fell off the bone with a fork. There were plenty of side dishes, and the mashed potatoes were creamy.🍑 4️⃣ Loveless Cafe 🍽️ 3 meats Sampler 📝 Also a favorite from Sb Feed Phil. The "Loveless Cafe" comes with a barn, a supermarket, and a gift shop, selling homemade mixes, jams, and seasonings. 🍕They give a free plate of scones when you sit down—they’re heavy on flour, soft in the center, a bit dry but not bad with their jam and cream. The three meats are meatloaf, pulled pork, and bacon. The "coffee-flavored" red-eye gravy that comes with the bacon was highly praised by Phil, but in our humble opinion, it was too thin and the bacon itself was overly salty. The meatloaf, though, was delicious—soft and tender!🥞🥞 5️⃣ Gus's 🍗 3 pcs Dark Platter 📝 Gus’s chicken is spicy not just in the breading, but also in the meat marinade.🍾 🥘The skin is crispy when you bite into it, and the inside is hot and juicy—it’s really good. The fried okra was tasty too, though the portion was relatively small. 6️⃣ Red’s Hot Chicken 🍗 Crunch Warp 📝 A humble, hidden spot highly recommended by locals. 🥒 The menu features indulgent, oversized portions—three people couldn’t finish one piece of fried chicken and a mac ‘n’ cheese wrap. The fried chicken marinade is mild, but the skin is crispy and the meat is juicy, and the wrap is full of flavor.🍉🍉 7️⃣ Peg Leg Porker 🥩 Rib & Pulled Pork 📝 Their meats look super dry but aren’t too tough to eat. Especially the dry-rubbed ribs—they looked extremely dry and were surprisingly spicy! 🍊 The dry rub on the surface is made with paprika, chili powder, brown sugar, garlic powder, etc., tasting sweet, salty, and subtly spicy. Personally, I wish they were a bit softer and moister. Not a bad experience, just average.🍓 #WinterTravelFavorites #Nashville #NashvilleFood
