Near by Iguazu Fall‘s Capybara

📍 Location: Itaipu Biological Refuge Did you know you can even spot capybaras at Iguazu? 🦦 This animal rescue center is home to many species unique to South America, including birds and honey badgers (known for fearlessly challenging cobras!). ✨While the refuge previously housed two sloths, a black jaguar, and armadillos, animals are released back into the wild once they recover — so sightings aren’t guaranteed~ Before entering the ecological park, we encountered dozens of wild capybaras (over 50!) roaming freely near the road, and even spotted a crocodile basking by the water~ 🩷The famous Itaipu Dam tour is also located here, but note that visits to the animal rescue center have limited capacity. It’s best to book tickets in advance via Google Maps. Tickets cost 42 BRL, and the last entry is at 3:30 PM. When we arrived, tickets were sold out, but after sharing with the staff that we were leaving the next day (and expressing our disappointment), they kindly added two spots for us! 🥰 #Itaipu Biological Refuge#Iguazu Falls#Rio de Janeiro#travel guide#Brazil#trip diary
