Nepal Temple - Kopan Monastery
✨ It's hard to imagine that one day I would be at the Kopan Monastery in Kathmandu, learning meditation with lamas from Canada and Brazil. ❤️ On the last day, I unexpectedly met the leader of the Gelug sect, the Ganden Trisur Rinpoche. 🍀 The monastery is perched on a hilltop, offering a panoramic view of Kathmandu, which is especially beautiful. There is a small garden that comes alive with colorful lights on the trees as night falls, creating a very dreamy atmosphere! ✨ This place is not only a temple but also a Buddhist college where teachers introduce the history of Buddhism and various perspectives, such as cause and effect (Karma), attachment (Touchment), and the cycle of rebirth (Samsara)... The entire course is in English, and sometimes the pace is so fast that it feels like chanting, making it hard to keep up... At one point, I wanted to give up on the course. 😑 It was my first time participating in a closed course almost entirely filled with Westerners. Due to language and cultural differences, I felt marginalized for the first time. Sometimes, out of eight people at lunch, six would be speaking French... ❤️ I discovered through conversations with them that for many Westerners, Buddhism is considered very "hippie." I had never thought that one day, Buddhist culture would become associated with the hippie movement. ✨ In the end, I persevered and gained a lot from the experience, mostly discovering my own boundaries... #Nepal #NepalTravel #Temple #MostBeautifulTemple #Stupa#trip diary#travel guide#Kopan Monastery#Nepal Temple#Kathmandu
