Never Expected Vancouver's Landmark to Be a Steam Clock...

When a UBC student 🧑‍🎓 first arrives in downtown Vancouver and is walking towards the waterfront, they might be surprised to stumble upon one of Vancouver's famous attractions: the Steam Clock, standing right by the roadside, billowing steam. 🌿 📚 After learning more, it turns out this is the world's first steam clock, a landmark of Gastown. It primarily uses underground steam to power the clock's mechanism, with steam emerging from the ground every 15 minutes. 🌳 The sound of the steam is even longer on the hour. 🕰️ 🗺️ Tourist Route: If you're new to Vancouver, after visiting the Steam Clock, head to Canada Place. Follow the waterfront trail, and you'll spot the Dolphins statue—a landmark. Continue walking, and you'll reach Stanley Park, one of the largest urban parks in North America. 🕰️ The park is free from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 🌳 🧑‍🎓#Canada #WinterTravelBucketList #Gastown
