🌅 Never Tiring of This View 📍Suomenlinna
Suomenlinna to Helsinki is probably similar to what Rejuvenation Island is to downtown Shanghai (I was thinking of Chongming's three islands, but Chongming has developed so quickly these past few years, Suomenlinna can't compare). You can take a boat after work to stroll around, and it takes just over an hour to walk around the whole place and enjoy the sea views. 🚢🌊 Seizing what might be the last sunny day before the weather turns cold, my parents and I went to Suomenlinna to see the Finnish Fortress. The complete Finnish Fortress actually consists of eight islands, but generally, when we say we're visiting the Finnish Fortress, we mean taking a boat from the Katajanokka dock in central Helsinki to Suomenlinna to see the military fortress built by Sweden and Russia during the Finnish War period. 🏰 The smoke of war has never ceased, leaving behind the ruins of each generation. If you look at the fortress purely from an architectural perspective, it's quite spectacular. It's star-shaped, with some bunkers you can enter to closely observe the military architectural structure of that time. There's a military museum on the island that houses some old relics from those days, but it's closed on Tuesdays, so don't go empty-handed. 🗓️ If you're not interested in war history, the entire island is also a great place to capture natural scenery near Helsinki. You can walk around the artificial trails to see the coastline. There are also some residential homes and a school on the island, so the boats coming to the island after work will have more locals returning to their homes on the island. 🎪 Near the dock on the main island, there used to be a toy museum, which is currently under renovation, but the coast near that corner is uniquely beautiful, giving a dreamy feeling like Kamakura, haha. 🌉 #Finland #Nordic #FinnishLife #NordicLife #FinnishFortress #PracticalInfoFinnishFortress #HelsinkiTravel #HelsinkiLife #NordicAutumn #SeaView
