New Orleans|Galatoire's – A Non-Instagrammy French Gem 👍🏻
📍 Galatoire's or Galatoire’s 33 Bar & Steak After one too many heavy Creole meals, I craved something a bit more French — found this spot on Google and it turned out to be a delicious surprise! ‼️ Main Restaurant Rules: Formal dress code required Reservations needed Men: shirt + slacks + jacket (they can lend one) Women: at least business casual If that’s too formal, try Galatoire’s 33 Bar & Steak next door — same menu, walk-in friendly, no dress code. Downside: it’s set up more like a bar (low tables, dim lighting, not great for groups over 5), but the food is totally worth it if you care more about flavor than ambiance. 🍗 CHICKEN CLEMENCEAU Absolutely divine! Perfectly roasted — juicy, flavorful chicken breast with crispy skin. Couldn’t fault it. A must-order! 🍖 SWEETBREADS (Veal Thymus) A French classic — ordered out of curiosity. Not gamey, just tender and rich like well-seared meat. No strong opinion since it was my first time trying it! 🦆 MAPLE LEAF DUCK The seared duck breast was delicious — sauce not too sweet, nicely balanced. The braised duck leg was too heavily spiced (cinnamon, etc.) and overcooked — skip it. (Still prefer Mr. B’s Bistro’s duck with risotto and Brussels sprouts though 😉) 🥗 SALAD Solid, as expected. 🦀 CANAPÉ LORENZO (Crab Canapé) Tiny but packed with real crab meat — fresh and tasty. 🍲 SEAFOOD OKRA GUMBO Like most gumbo in NOLA — way too salty for my taste. Only Mother’s Restaurant has a lighter version worth trying. Overall, the flavors here really suit Asian palates — balanced, not overly salty. A great break from heavy Cajun and seafood if you’re craving something refined! #NewOrleans #NOLAFood #FrenchCuisine #FoodieFinds #TravelEats 🍽️🇫🇷✨
