New Orleans | A Century-Old Café by the Mississippi River
I’ve flown to New Orleans a few times lately, and I want to share a must-visit century-old French café here—Café Du Monde, founded in 1862 and still thriving today ☕! There are many branches of this café around the city; you’ll see tourists carrying their bags everywhere on the streets, and almost everyone at the airport has a bag too. I was really curious—just how good could it be?! [Heart-eyes] Beignets: This is their most famous sweet treat—French-style donuts that feel like little fried pillows. The dough is leavened, and it’s dusted with tons of powdered sugar. I thought it would be as super sweet as regular donuts, but it’s not at all! The dough is chewy (it even tastes a bit like Chinese fried dough sticks—suddenly took me back to morning markets in my hometown 🥹), and the powdered sugar isn’t overly sweet. The combination is totally addictive. A dine-in order comes with 3 beignets—generous portions, so one order is enough for two people! [Heart-eyes] Café Au Lait: Their classic coffee drink. It’s actually a Long Black with milk, not a traditional latte. I personally love this style—it pairs perfectly with pastries without feeling too heavy. I ordered it hot, but they also have iced versions or even frozen slushie-style ones ❄️. [Thumbs-up] Café Mocha: The biggest surprise was the iced mocha! I didn’t add any extra sugar, but the chocolate flavor is rich and blends beautifully with the coffee. This iced mocha is so good I could order it every day—I’m obsessed 😻! The branch I visited has amazing views—it’s right next to River Walk. You can enter the café from Riverwalk Outlet or via the path along the river. Sipping coffee while enjoying the scenery of the Mississippi River, with a gentle breeze blowing—it’s so cozy and relaxing 🌬️! 📍 500 Port of New Orleans Pl, New Orleans, LA 70130 #NewOrleansFood #NewOrleans #CitiesWorthVisitingForFood #CoffeeShopHopping #MustVisitCoffeeShops #FrenchDonuts
