New Orleans | Budget-Friendly Food Guide π½οΈπ°
Compared to earlier restaurant recommendations, these spots offer dishes under $20 each with generous portions β perfect if you're not chasing fine dining every meal! π Mother's Restaurant My five-star pick among budget options! Feels like home cooking β simple, honest flavors with good ingredients π©π³β€οΈ. Must-try: Gumbo β the least salty and lightest broth I had in NOLA, reminiscent of cozy chicken soup with tender meat and veggies. The Jerry's Creole Jambalaya was just okay β not enough meat/veggies and lacked wow factor. Also tried turnip greens & green beans β tasted like homemade comfort food π₯¬. π Willie's Chicken Shack Ordered 6 fried chicken wings β crispy, deeply seasoned, and juicy inside π. First bite = amazing! But the skin got really salty after a few pieces π . Great for takeout to share with other dishes. Flavor reminded me of KFC/McDonaldβs style β way better than Popeyes! π Heard Dat Kitchen Recommended on Reddit, but in a pretty remote neighborhood. Not worth the trip for me β no indoor seating (rain = takeout only), and the shrimp/fish tasted like frozen stuff π₯Ά. Best thing: grilled zucchini. π Frankie & Johnny's Convenient if you're visiting the zoo π¦, but not a must-go destination. #NewOrleans #NOLAFood #BudgetEats πππ·
