New Orleans Brunchđ„Ł | Nola's Famous Bearcat
Search for New Orleans food guides, and 70% of the posts will mention this brunch spotâit must be super popular among Chinese tourists! đŻ The two most recommended dishes are the crab scramble đŠ and the Lobster Daddy (fried lobster đŠ). I didnât go to the main brunch restaurant thoughâheard the lines are crazy longâso I went to the adjacent bakery instead, which meant no lobster for me. đŽ Bearcat Baked đ 726 Julia St, New Orleans, LA 70130 I tried the ăBearclawăâa bear paw-shaped croissant stuffed with a moderate amount of almond cream. The croissant đ„ itself was so flaky and airyâeven though it looked huge, it didnât feel heavy at all. The almond cream in the middle was thick but not sweet, though the almond flavor was pretty strong. If youâre into almond, itâs worth a tryâitâs lighter and less cloying than most almond croissants. Then thereâs the ăcrab scrambleă. To be fair, the crab meat portion was generousâevery bite had chunks of crab! But the flavor was a bit underwhelming. Besides crab đŠ and eggs, there didnât seem to be much else in terms of seasoning. The potato chunks on the side actually tasted goodâspicy and flavorfulâbut they were way too dry and burnt. Not sure if thatâs how theyâre supposed to be, or if itâs just inconsistent baking here. đ Overall, for this bakery at least, stick to the bread or sandwiches. If the main restaurant tastes the same, I donât think itâs worth lining up for specifically. #NewOrleans #NewOrleansFood #NOLA #Brunch #NewOrleansRestaurants #Food #NewOrleansTravel #NewOrleansFoodie #NewOrleansDaily #NewOrleansBrunch
