New Orleans Dating Guide | Alcohol Is the Ticket to Jazz

⚜️ On This Day (in a Certain Year) I went to New Orleans because I rewatched La La Land—I thought, maybe I should visit the birthplace of Jazz 🎷. It was a spontaneous trip, and I quickly booked a stay at Maison Metier, a maximalist hotel with mysterious animal-themed decor and a stunning bar wrapped in red velvet—you have to push through a hidden door to get in 🔮. Summer in Louisiana is unpredictable, with humid air that clings to your skin ☀️☔. The powdered sugar on Café du Monde’s beignets tastes just like it did a century ago; the oak trees and vines at Oak Alley Plantation twist together in harmony 🌳; the most famous restaurants on French Quarter are always lined with people, even when rain pours down. Inside, couples sharing oysters murmur and laugh 🦪, while the alligator on the plate pales in comparison to the lively ones in the swamps. In a dusty street-side bookstore, I found Nietzsche’s works next to a diagram of a flower’s anatomy 📚. This fertile land has borne the pain of generations, yet it also nurtures the most vibrant rhythms of life ❤️. By evening, sunlight breaks through the thick clouds that lingered all day, painting the avenue lined with two rows of coconut trees in fiery hues 🌴. One moment, commuters wait for the streetcar; the next, they vanish into the vast crowd of lives. We only shared a 绚烂 (dazzling) sunset—one that can never be replicated 🌅. Wander down Bourbon Street, and you’ll stumble upon Jazz everywhere. Alcohol is the ticket to this music 🥂, and Jazz is the echo of every emotion. No filming is allowed inside Preservation Hall. The venue is tiny, there’s no AC (so it’s sweltering!), and crowds of people pack the space shoulder to shoulder. But we had the best time—everyone swayed and nodded to the music, grinned at each other, and cheered so loudly with every applause 👏. If someone asked me what my fantasy of romance looks like, I’d say: a 1953 cherry-red car 🚗, the oak groves of New Orleans, Blueberry Hill playing on a street corner 🎶, fiery clouds after a rainstorm, and people staggering down the street with paper cups in hand, tipsy and free. …As for the photos… well… they’re beyond saving 😂. Spots We Visited (and Favorite Spots We Missed): 🐚 Stays & Wishlist Venues Maison Metier: The perfect place to stay ✨. Elysian: A spot I was dying to visit—it has a beautiful church-style restaurant. But from what I checked on Instagram, you can only dine in the hall while listening to Jazz during specific times ⛪. 🦪 Restaurants Peche 🌟: Delicious! Seaworthy 🌟: Delicious! ACME Drago‘s Felix Cochon Willa Jean Napoleon House 🥂 Jazz & Drink Spots Preservation Hall 🌟 The Carousel Bar & Lounge Pat O‘Briens (And many more whose names I can’t remember!) #NewOrleans #NOLA #DatingGuide #RomanticLifeDiary #USATravel #NewOrleansTravel #NewOrleansFood #NewOrleansGuide
