New Orleans Food & Drink Journey #4 โ Jewel of the South
An award-winning bar โ ranked #44 in the world this year ๐โจ. A must-visit for cocktail lovers! Food 4/5 Small portions but big on flavor โ all four dishes we ordered were hits โ . ๐ฎ Beef Tartare โ Fresh beef, well-seasoned, with crispy dried tripe for texture. ๐ฆ Gulf Shrimp Raviolo โ A large squid-ink pasta pocket stuffed with shrimp โ delicious! ๐ Wagyu Tongue โ So tender inside, seared crisp outside โ seasoning subtle yet perfect, letting the beef shine. The barley risotto underneath was also great. ๐ Redfish โ Okay, but not a must-order โ similar to other upscale seafood spots. I just really wanted fish that night ๐. Drinks 5/5 ๐ธ๐ ๐ฅ Brandy Crusta โ Strong yet balanced โ cognac + curaรงao + bitters, with a sugar-rimmed glass for a sweet finish. ๐ฅ Feast of Avalon โ Beautiful presentation! Served with a flaming cinnamon stick ๐ชตโจ. Complex flavors: sweet, sour, smoky, spiced โ truly fit for a king (Fate fans, rejoice! โ๏ธ). ๐พ French 75 โ My partner orders this everywhere โ here they use cognac instead of gin, making it richer yet still crisp. ๐ Jewel Martini โ OMG I loved this! Luxurious yet clean, not too sweet โ smooth with herbal and citrus notes, a hint of bitterness. So drinkable! (Also asked the waitress โ the โ007 who drank three of theseโ was Pierce Brosnan ๐ถ๏ธ.) ๐ธ Righteous Harlot โ Playful name, gorgeous dragonfruit pink color ๐. Vodka-based, light and slightly sweet with a hint of fruitiness and sparkling wine โ perfect for those who prefer milder drinks! ๐ญ Harlequin โ Not my favorite โ a bit harsh, maybe because Iโm not used to cane spirits. Ambience & Service 3.5/5 Cozy but small โ we were upstairs in a tight space. Weekend nights get crowded and noisy ๐ฃ๏ธ. Staff were attractive and knowledgeable, though โ great at explaining dishes and drinks! Overall If your NOLA schedule allows, definitely come for a proper cocktail session ๐ฅ. My only regret: their seasonal menu changed, so I missed the foie gras ๐. Next time, Iโll try that and taste the rest of their cocktail list! #GlobalFoodies #FoodAndSpirits #StudyAbroadEats #NewOrleansFood #NewOrleansTravel ๐น๐ท๐
