New Orleans Food & Drinks Journey โ Jewel of the South ๐ฅ
An award-winning bar ranked #44 in the world this year โ an absolute must-visit for craft cocktails! Food 4/5 Portions are small but packed with flavor. We tried four dishes โ all delightful: Beef Tartare: Fresh beef, well-seasoned, with crispy tripe adding great texture ๐ฅฉ Gulf Shrimp Raviolo: A large squid-ink raviolo stuffed with shrimp โ delicious! ๐ฆ Wagyu Tongue: Incredibly tender inside, perfectly seared outside. Seasoning was subtle, letting the beef shine. The barley risotto underneath was also a win ๐ ๐ซ Redfish: Okay, but skippable โ similar to other Western restaurants. I just really wanted fish that day ๐ Drinks 5/5 ๐ธ Brandy Crusta: Strong & stiff โ cognac and orange liqueur balanced with bitters. Sugar-rimmed lips added a sweet finish Feast of Avalon: Beautiful presentation โ smoked cinnamon stick included! Complex, sweet, sour, and smokyโฆ a true โkingโs feastโ ๐ French 75: Made with cognac instead of gin โ smooth, rich, refreshing Jewel Martini: My FAVORITE! Luxurious yet clean, not sweet. Herbal and citrus notes with a gentle bitterness โ so drinkable! Righteous Harlot: Pretty dragon fruit red color ๐. Vodka-based, lightly sweet, slightly sour, with sparkling wine โ light and easy. Great for those who prefer milder drinks! Harlequin: Not my favorite โ a bit harsh, maybe due to the cane spirit Ambiance & Service 3.5/5 The place is small, especially the upstairs where we sat. Weekends are crowded and noisy ๐ฃ๏ธ. Staff are good-looking and knowledgeable โ they explained both food and drinks well. Final Thoughts If your NOLA schedule allows, definitely come here for a serious drink session! My only regret: their seasonal menu had changed, so I missed the foie gras ๐ข. Next time, Iโll try more cocktails and hopefully catch that foie! #GlobalEats #CocktailLovers #InternationalStudentLife #NewOrleansFood #NOLATravel #JewelOfTheSouth
