๐ฅ New Orleans Food Guide โ๏ธ
Food in New Orleans is mostly very American โ delicious but can get a bit heavy after a while ๐ . ๐ฅค Desserts / Afternoon Tea ๐ซ ๐จ Creole Creamery Since New Orleans is so hot and humid ๐๐ฆ, the first thing I did after landing was grab ice cream! This place has tons of great reviews on Google Maps and Yelp โ and it did not disappoint! We tried Red Velvet and a strawberry flavor (forgot the name ๐). Both werenโt too sweet โ the Red Velvet was especially amazing. If you love red velvet, donโt miss this spot! โค๏ธ๐ฆ โ๏ธ Cafe Du Monde A cafรฉ in the French Quarter โ perfect for resting your feet after exploring. Right by Jackson Square. Recommend: Beignets and Iced Mocha ๐งโ. The beignets are like fluffy doughnuts covered in powdered sugar โ light and not overly sweet! ๐ฉโจ ๐ Main Meals ๐ฒ ๐ฅช Motherโs Restaurant Classic American diner / family-style restaurant. Portions are huge! Flavor wasnโt mind-blowing, but worth trying for the experience ๐ด. ๐ค Deanieโs Seafood Restaurant Fried seafood โ again, huge portions (can get heavy after a while). We ordered a sandwich, a seafood platter, and BBQ shrimp. For two people, just a sandwich + BBQ shrimp would be plenty! The BBQ shrimp was incredible โ buttery and rich ๐ง๐ฆ. Only downside: you have to peel the shrimp yourself (messy hands! ๐). ๐ฆ Luke Another seafood spot โ their oysters are really good ๐ฆช. They sometimes have happy hour too! The rest of the menu didnโt stand out as much, but if you love oysters, itโs a solid pick. ๐ง Ruby Slipper A popular American brunch chain with several locations in NOLA. We tried their Benedict platter โ tasty but a bit heavy. Also ordered the candy bacon (staff recommendation) โ it was too sweet and rich for our taste ๐ฅ๐ฏ. #NewOrleans #NOLA #NOLAFood #FoodGuide #EatLikeALocal #SweetTreats #SeafoodLover
