🥞 New Orleans Food Guide ⚜️

Most food in New Orleans is classic American style — delicious but can be a bit heavy after a while! 🥤 Desserts / Afternoon Tea 🫖 🍨 Creole Creamery Since New Orleans is so hot and humid, my first stop after landing was for ice cream! This spot has tons of great reviews on Google Maps and Yelp, and it did not disappoint — so good that I drove back the next day! We tried the Red Velvet and a strawberry flavor (forgot the name 😅). Both were not overly sweet, and the Red Velvet was especially amazing — a must-try for red velvet lovers! ☕️ Cafe Du Monde A classic café in the French Quarter, perfect for resting your feet after exploring. Right by Jackson Square! Recommended: Beignets (like fluffy, powdered sugar doughnuts — light and not too rich) and Iced Mocha. 🍛 Main Meals 🍲 🥪 Mother’s Restaurant A genuine American-style diner/fast-food vibe. Portions are HUGE! The flavors aren’t mind-blowing, but it’s worth trying for the experience. 🍤 Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant Fried seafood galore — again, portions are massive and can get heavy. We ordered a sandwich, a seafood platter, and BBQ shrimp. For two people, just a sandwich and BBQ shrimp would be plenty. The BBQ shrimp was incredible — rich, buttery, and flavorful. Only downside: you have to peel the shrimp yourself (messy but worth it!). 🦞 Luke Another seafood spot known for delicious oysters 🦪. They sometimes have happy hour — great for oyster lovers! Other dishes were good but not particularly memorable. 🧇 Ruby Slipper A popular American brunch chain with several locations in New Orleans. We tried the Benedict platter — tasty but heavy. Also ordered the candy bacon (staff recommendation), but it was too sweet for our taste. #NewOrleans #NOLA #NOLAFood #FoodieGuide #InternationalCuisine #FoodExplorer #StudyAbroadEats
