New Orleans Food Trip · Does It Really Live Up to the Hype? ❓

Throwback to last Thanksgiving — my New Orleans trip was absolutely delicious! 🍽️ Still wanted to write down some memories. 🔔 But if you're coming from LA/NY, keep expectations in check — it won’t compare to local Chinese food there. That said, among tourist cities, NOLA’s food scene is truly impressive and not too pricey! 🦪 Oysters here are different from Seattle’s — better suited for grilling, frying, or cooking. Seattle oysters are sweeter and plumper raw, perfect for eating fresh (blame the water temperature 🌊). So adjust your oyster bar expectations accordingly! 🍴 French-style restaurants are relatively affordable and approachable — all pretty solid, with rich ingredients and flavors that suit the Chinese palate. And the desserts… absolutely divine! 😍 🐊 The famous alligator meat — honestly, still pretty gamey. You can try it for the experience, but no need to force yourself if it’s not your thing 😅. 🦞 Went off-season, but a few spots still had live crawfish — so tender!! Though they were tiny in winter 😂. Forgot to take photos every time, but tried two places that were good. A local lady recommended Cajun Seafood — didn’t get to try it though. 🥪 Po’boys — okay once in a while, but pretty heavy on the fried stuff. ⛳️ Tried spots like: Peche / Cochon / Bearcat / Cafe Du Monde #NewOrleansFood #NOLARestaurants #NOLATravel #NOLAHotels #NOLAGuide #FoodieReflections #SouthernEats
