New Orleans Guide: Attractions Edition ποΈπ·
French Quarter: A large area of colonial-style architecture β feels a bit like Qingdao's Badaguan or Tianjin's Wudadao ποΈ. Most attractions are concentrated here. β Jackson Square & St. Louis Cathedral Located together β a must-visit spot for a relaxed stroll. Just across the street is the Mississippi River π, where you can enjoy river views and walk along the Moonwalk β a tribute to America's "Father of Waters." β Most Photogenic Flower-decked Balcony in NOLA The iconic flower-covered balcony at the corner of Royal St & St. Peter St πΊπΈ. A must-see, though it was under renovation in December, so photos werenβt ideal. β The Historic New Orleans Collection A free museum about NOLAβs history β reserve tickets online in advance! The third floor has rare historical photos β worth spending time to appreciate ππΌοΈ. β French Market A long stretch of vendors and small shops ποΈ β a compact market worth a quick browse. β Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar Reportedly Americaβs oldest bar π» β the building itself is charming and historic. β Preservation Hall The temple of American jazz πΊ β tickets must be booked ahead (standing tickets available). We only snapped photos outside but heard itβs legendary! β The Sazerac House A free cocktail museum π₯ explaining NOLAβs iconic drinks β reserve online. Kids are welcome and get lemonade β highly recommended! β Tennessee Williams House π 632 St Peter St β where he wrote "A Streetcar Named Desire" π. A commemorative plaque marks the spot outside. β Oak Alley Plantation Worth visiting β the most beautiful plantation locally, famous for its oak tree-lined avenue π³. Book tickets in advance (slightly more expensive for a mansion tour). The interior is nice, but the main draw is the scenic entrance. β Swamp Tour We booked Cajun Pride π β highly recommended! Initially thought it was overhyped on social media, but the experience was great β an all-American guided tour. Check the weather forecast β alligators sunbathe in warmer temps βοΈ. We saw plenty of gators, and everyone got to hold a baby alligator and take photos β a fun and memorable experience! #NewOrleans #NOLA #NOLATravel #NOLAGuide πΊπΏπ¦
