New Orleans Jazz Bar Recommendation — Fritzel's European Jazz Pub 🎷
Traveling with family, I couldn’t explore all the jazz bars in New Orleans, so we spontaneously visited Fritzel's European Jazz Pub tonight. The vibe here reminded me a lot of MaHoRee City of Music in Chiang Mai — great atmosphere! The sound was decent, though perhaps not as professional as the one in Chiang Mai. The audience included many Koreans — in my experience, if a jazz bar attracts a Korean crowd, it's usually a good sign. My favorite jazz bars have mostly been recommended by Korean friends too. The format here: 🎶 From the hour mark to 15 minutes past is a break, then from 15 past to the next hour is a performance — that’s one round. When I went, a new band started at 9 PM, though I’ve read that performances can begin as early as the afternoon. If you’re interested, you might catch 2–3 rounds per band. You can stay for a set by ordering one drink or spending at least $10. I’m not entirely sure if it’s counted by band set or round set, but we only ordered one drink and weren’t asked to leave even after three rounds from the same band — so it seems like it’s per band set. Overall, I thought it was a great jazz bar! I didn’t get to try others like The Spotted Cat Music Club, Mahogany Jazz Hall, The Jazz Playhouse, or Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro — but I’ll save those for next time! #NewOrleans #NewOrleansTravel #NewOrleansJazz #JazzBar 🎺🍸🌟
