New Orleans Restaurant Recap β December π½οΈβ¨
1οΈβ£ Boil Seafood House π Uptown β stopped by on the way back from the zoo. Hit the happy hour β tried raw oysters + chargrilled oysters π¦ͺ. Decent, though not quite Halifax-level. Crawfish in Cajun and butter garlic flavors β Cajun was tastier but still salty. Their gumbo was just okay, but the sausage side dish surprisingly impressed! 2οΈβ£ Recommended Gumbo Soup Spot π French Quarter β great for lunch after exploring. π° Budget-friendly, generous portions, delicious! π Roasted chicken rice β tender and flavorful. π¦ Crawfish Γ©touffΓ©e β rich and aromatic. π₯ Seafood okra gumbo over rice β so fresh and satisfying, packed with shrimp and crab goodness. π Comes with free French bread (and refills!). 3οΈβ£ CafΓ© Du Monde in City Park Weekend crowds werenβt bad β easy to find a seat. The park smelled faintly of flowers πΈ. Enjoyed sweet beignets + iced CafΓ© Au Lait β their version of youtiao & soy milk π. Relaxed a bit, then walked to the sculpture garden nearby. 4οΈβ£ Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ for Dinner Took an Uber there β they had a buy-one-get-one beef rice bowl deal! Unexpectedly delicious and huge portions β paired perfectly with sweet soy sauce. ππ₯© #NewOrleans #NewOrleansTravel #FoodDiary #NOLAeats ππ€
