New Orleans Tips: Avoiding Disappointments & Recommendations ⚠️

First off, food in NOLA is really salty — by day two, I was already a bit tired of it. Some restaurants are delicious, but you might need to drink lots of water to balance it out. Unfortunately, service at some places felt rude, and we even suspected differential treatment based on race (possible discrimination). 🦪 Gallier’s Seafood & Oyster Bar Rating: ⭐ Salty and greasy. Oysters were okay, but overall not recommended — and expensive! A pasta dish that probably costs $4 to make was sold for $29 😒. The server even rolled their eyes at us — and we were polite and tipped well. 🙄 🦞 Hot N Cajun Boil House Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ Tasty (though still salty), and fairly popular on social media. But we felt ignored because our party was small, while a white couple of two was warmly seated right away. 😐 🍩 Café du Monde (Riverwalk location) Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty good — not as sweet as expected. The powdered sugar had a slight flour-like texture, but enjoyable! 🐊 Cajun Pride Swamp Tour Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1.5 hours on the water — saw raccoons, wild boars, alligators, and birds. The best part was holding a baby gator — pick this tour if you want that experience! 🎖️ The National WWII Museum Rating: ⭐⭐ Highly recommended online, but can feel boring if you’re not into history. The museum is huge (multiple buildings), and walking through it made our feet ache. Exhibits are mostly uniforms, photos, and a few weapon replicas. The 4D film might be more exciting, but we missed it. ⛪ Jackson Square & St. Louis Cathedral Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Close to the riverfront and French Market — very relaxing and pleasant. The market itself is just okay, like a food street with souvenir stalls. 🍻 Bourbon Street & Royal Street Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bourbon Street is famous for bars (lots of stripper bars 😅) — even if you don’t drink or dance, the lively vibe is fun! Note: The music is LOUD with heavy beats — not for sensitive ears. Royal Street is more artsy, with antique shops and art galleries. 🅿️ Laz Parking A secure lot with gate access — no worries about break-ins. Buying a multi-day pass is cheaper than hotel parking. #NewOrleansTravel #NOLA #TipsAndTricks 🌆🎷🚫
