New Yorkโs Hidden Gem for Thai Cuisine: Wondee Siam ๐
๐ 782 9th Ave, New York, NY 10019 When it comes to Thai restaurants in New York, recommendations usually point to Soothr, Tai Villa, Wayla, etc. But on Ninth Avenue, there are several lesser-known Thai gems. Wondee Siam is one of them. Though the restaurant is small and not as fancy as the others, the food is absolutely amazing! ๐ Hereโs a rundown of the dishes, in the order of the photos: Tom Yum Soup ๐ฒ We went for the shrimp Tom Yum soup. The large portion isnโt too big; itโs perfect for sharing among two or three people. Itโs not overly sour compared to Soothrโs version. Panang Curry with Beef (Medium Spicy) ๐ถ๏ธ Despite few online reviews recommending this curry, my stubborn boyfriend insisted that a Thai meal without curry would be incomplete. Surprisingly, it was delicious! The curry had a unique, sweet pineapple flavor, which sounds odd but tastes amazing. Itโs perfect for mixing with rice. ๐ฒ๐ Pad Thai ๐ณ This dish had a hint of tomato sauce, which I personally didnโt love, but one of my friends really enjoyed it. Crispy Pork with Chinese Watercress ๐ฒ The star of the show! This dish felt like it was stir-fried in a large wok over high heat. It was so flavorful and delicious that we cleaned the plate in minutes. I could visit this place a hundred times just for this dish. ๐โค๏ธ Thai Iced Tea ๐ง The Thai iced tea was not overly sweet, with just the right amount of sugar. If youโre a milk tea fan, you have to order this! The value for money here is incredible. For four people, we had four dishes, one soup, one Thai iced tea, and tips, and the average cost per person was just $25. Ninth Avenue has many other great places to explore, so go ahead and give them a try! ๐ #NewYork #NYCRestaurants #BestEatsInNY ๐๐
