New York's Late Summer Purple Dream Map(1)
Lavender has entered the "late flowering period" but hasn't yet faded away! Seize the last wave of the purple sea. All locations are personally tested to be within a 2-hour drive. For those without a car, there are also train + taxi options. 1️⃣ Lavender · Last Call ① Lavender By the Bay • Flowering period: French lavender → last harvest at the end of July to early August 🍃🌸 • How to choose between the two gardens: ‑ East Marion (main garden, 17 acres, more flowers, butterflies and bees often come to collect nectar, more natural and quiet ecology; there is also a farm shop where you can get lavender essential oil, dried flowers, honey and other handmade products) 🍃🌸 ‑ Calverton (branch garden, 30 acres, 1.5 hours from Manhattan, 80,000 English lavender plants, spectacular and boundless; purple Adirondack chairs instantly heal the scene; peak flowering period is from mid-June to early July, followed by a small autumn second flowering season) • Hours: Daily 9:00-17:00/18:00 • Tickets: $15-$20 on-site, free for children under 6, it is recommended to book online (there are occasionally remaining tickets on-site) 🍃🌸 • Photography tips: After 4 p.m., the light is soft, and backlighting naturally creates a soft-focus filter; wearing white or beige is the most photogenic. • Carless option: LIRR to Mattituck Station + Uber for 12 minutes to East Marion; or LIRR to Ronkonkoma Station + Uber for 15 minutes to Calverton. 🍃🌸 #Lavender #NewYorkWeekend #NewYorkLife 🌇🌟
