New York's Mari: A Miss 🥲
This was hands down the worst meal I had in 2025. It was just so disappointing! 🥲 First off, as a Korean omakase, there was no real Korean flavor. It felt like they didn't put any effort into it. 🥲I've been to many Korean fusion places in New York, but this was the first one where even the cucumbers and pickles were poorly done. 🥒 The first few courses had caviar, but it felt like it was just there to jack up the price. It didn't add any flavor to the dishes. 🐟 The entire kitchen was mostly just assembling and plating, with a single grill roasting eggs, fish, and maybe some tteokbokki. 🌊 I'm not saying I mind cold dishes—I love Japanese and Korean food, and I'm fine with cold servings. But here, everything tasted off. Either it was too salty, too cold, or too overpowering (I don't get why they made a cinnamon-flavored soup super salty and cold. 🥲 It tasted like chilled chai tea, and using such warming ingredients in a cold dish just felt like eating leftovers). 🥹 🎢After the meal, I told my friend, "This dinner left me full but empty. My stomach is packed with cold dishes, but my taste buds are lonely." 🥹 I won't be going back, girls. If it weren't for the good times with my friend, I would've felt like I wasted a perfectly good workday dinner. 🥲 #food 🍔
