New York | Hakubai: New Kaiseki Japanese Cuisine 🍣
🌸It’s been a while since I visited a new restaurant, but finally, I had the chance to try this newly opened kaiseki spot. Overall, none of the courses were particularly disappointing, but the sashimi had way too much soy sauce on the ingredients, making it overly salty. 🥢 The best dishes were the eel rice (unagi don) and the wagyu beef. The eel rice was incredibly tender, and the wagyu had a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth texture that wasn’t at all greasy. 🍖 🎢 The experience was pretty standard. In the world of New York kaiseki, it’s not the best, but it’s definitely worth a try. 🍃The ambiance is quite nice, located in the lobby of a hotel with a modern lounge/bar area. The decor is sleek and contemporary, and the music feels similar to what you’d hear at The Shed. 🎶 Here’s my kaiseki ranking: Kappo Sono > Tsukimi > Odo > Hirohisa > Kaiseki Room by Yamada > Hakubai. 🌊 You can definitely give it a try, but I probably won’t be back. 🌟 #JapaneseCuisine #RestaurantRecommendation #HiddenGem 🌟🌟
