New York | Hidden Gem Ukrainian Cuisine at Veselka
🍲 Beef Stroganoff Slow-cooked beef in mushroom sauce served with egg noodles. The flavor was very homey, and beef with mushrooms is always a winning combo. Perfect for warming up in winter. 🍗 Chicken Schnitzel Breaded and fried chicken cutlet, a classic Eastern European dish. The frying was on point—crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Paired with mashed potatoes and beet sauce, the flavors balanced really well. 🥟 Pierogi Ukrainian dumplings are a specialty here. They offer a ton of fillings: sauerkraut, beef, chicken, potato, and even cheese. I think we got the cheese-filled ones—never had cheese in dumplings before, which was interesting, but I still prefer meat fillings, haha! Overall, the price was reasonable, around $30–40 per person. The restaurant also sells a variety of baked goods, so I’ll definitely grab some next time. The food was solid, home-style comfort food, but the pierogi were the standout. If you’ve never tried Ukrainian cuisine, this is a great place to start! 📍 144 2nd Ave, New York #NewYork #Food #NYCFood #NYCEats #NYCRestaurants #NYCDesserts #FoodExploration #HiddenGems #UkrainianCuisine #UkrainianFoodNYC #DinnerTonight😀
