Please do not come here. They genuinely do not want your business. Check my reviews, I rarely give bad ones.
We came here 10/23 where we encountered the rudest employee - and this is coming from a New Yorker, our skin is thick. We greeted the hostess kindly and asked how long the wait was as since it was a warm Sunday evening, we did expect to wait. She told us there was only 1 party ahead of us. Perfect right? We asked if we may use the restroom she pointed to it and then we both went. My partner finished first and since it is a busy place asked where he should stand. She then directed him to a line and said now the wait was 5 parties.
I came out of the restroom and he relayed the message to me. I was so confused as we hadn’t left the restaurant and simply went to the restroom. I figured since I was the one who asked initially it was a simple misunderstanding and she may have forgotten his face. I went to her and reminded her that we just checked in with her before. She responded to me with so much attitude I was genuinely amazed, “We’re a very popular restaurant and there’s a line now”.
The line has a designated waiting area that she never pointed out to us. Had she pointed that out to us initially we would have taken turns using the restroom. My issue above all is not the misunderstanding or having to wait but how arrogant she was. Having worked in a restaurant before I could never imagine speaking to a guest this way. She could have just as readily apologized for the confusion instead of being rude and we would have waited as misunderstanding do happen. I wondered if she’s the owner or if the owner knows the staff’s blatant disregard because “its a very popular restaurant”.
We decided not to support this place in case this was a reflection of the kitchen staff’s attitude. Luckily around the corner there was another Ukrainian restaurant who warmly greeted us unlike Veselka employees who are seemingly overwhelmed or uninterested. The Ukrainian East Village Restaurant (around the corner) was amazing, food and service. There are so many restaurants in NYC, support the ones who want the business and genuinely want you to have a...

Your boss, your new business partner, important clients, that fashion model you had a conversation with, you can invite actors to royalties here and they will be in for a treat. As long as they don't have dietary requirements ask them: "Have you been to Veselka?” If they are Ukrainian the better!
I have to try Ukrainian delicacy in NYC. They have a good community here. It happens that this place have a good rating I want to try it. I had tried it in Vancouver, I want to try what New York has to offer! You will be served by mostly young beautiful people. I love the way my server say 'Enjoy!" with a little bow after every serving. I started with a Watermelon Lemonade. Then their $6 Ukrainian Borscht and wow that's the best tasting food I had. It got meat, vegetables, nice slightly thick stock, add a little sour cream and your in for a surprise it'll turn creamier and gave more sweetness but mild sourness, it's perfect. I ordered their 67th Anniversary bowl which is not on their current menu and opted fried, it's good but there's something missing. It needs to be eaten with fresh greens, I ordered Burrata Salad with Spinach and Fig. These comes as wonderful pair. I ended up my excellent dinner with a Medovik, a very soft layered cake. Right sweetness and got a creamy delicate texture, so nice you can just smashed it with your tounge it burst in your mouth. I smiled with joy, I am more than satisfied! All of this for just over $50 as if I've eaten more than a hundred dollar food.
Food at it's finest without making you broke. Food that's soooo good it fills your heart with goodness! That's Veselka! One young Indian youth that passed by brag to his companions, this is a good place to eat, it's delicious! If you had someone praise your food that's outside their traditional palate then you've got the highest praise from a...
