New York | King Cake – Crispy and Delicious, but Limited to January!
King Cake is a traditional French pastry, made to celebrate Epiphany. These highly-rated bakeries only offer it at the beginning of the year, selling it until the end of January. 🌟 🎢🍃 The tradition is super cute! Just like a coin in a dumpling, whoever gets the slice with the bean wears a paper crown 👑, symbolizing good luck for the whole year. 📍Ladurée (Triangle Slices) Although their macarons are overly sweet, the King Cake is perfect for Asian taste buds! The puff pastry is rich in buttery flavor and incredibly airy. 🎢🍃 The Frangipane almond cream is fluffy with a slight grainy texture, like a custard filling without the strong almond taste. The nutty aroma comes through subtly when you savor it. 🥧 📍Bread Story (Round Cake) The overall texture is similar to Ladurée’s. The surface is slightly over-baked, adding a toasty flavor. It’s great value for money. If you’re unsure which one to try, go for this one!⭐️ The choco-hazelnut and apple flavors look super yummy, but they only come in large sizes. 🍫 🎢🍃Dominique Ansel Bakery Sold out in the afternoon... I’ll update when I get my hands on one! 🥧 Just took a bite of the King Cake, and it shattered into crispy pieces that made me feel like an ASMR foodie. The satisfying crunch, with layers of buttery pastry so rich that the paper towel underneath gets greasy.🧈 🎢🍃 Thankfully, it’s not sweet or greasy in the mouth. Delicious! Love it! Must-try! Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until next year. 😍 #NewYorkEats #NYCExploration 🌇🌟
