New York | Must-Visit Sukiyaki Spot in Winter | Momokawa🥘

If you’re looking for a warm Japanese restaurant to escape the cold winter winds in New York, we highly recommend Momokawa! This little gem tucked away in the East Village is, in our minds, the epitome of sukiyaki in New York. My first visit was during a winter before the pandemic, when I gathered with friends, sat in the restaurant, and enjoyed the steaming hot sukiyaki while watching the heavy snowfall outside. It was a healing experience from the stomach to the heart! And every winter since, I’ve made a point to come back. Momokawa’s menu is truly extensive, offering not only the classic sukiyaki and shabu shabu but also a variety of sashimi and sushi. 🍲 Their sukiyaki is superb in terms of the balance of sweetness and saltiness in the broth, as well as the quality of the meat. The beef slices are just the right thickness, with an even distribution of fat. Once cooked, wrapped in egg, the tenderness is to die for, instantly boosting your happiness. Paired with vegetables and tofu soaked in the broth, the overall flavor is rich without being cloying. 🥩 The beef selection is very sophisticated, with three options to choose from: 1️⃣ US Prime Beef Rib-eye: The most budget-friendly, great value for money ($76) 2️⃣ US Wagyu Beef: Melts in your mouth with endless aftertastes ($140) 3️⃣ Miyazaki Beef: The priciest option, but also the best quality meat, delicate and sweet, an absolute top-tier experience! ($210) We’ve tried all three types of beef and without hesitation, we recommend the Miyazaki Beef! It’s worth every penny. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and cozy. The space is not large, but the wooden decor and soft lighting create a perfect winter vibe. The tableside service is particularly attentive; the servers will help you with the ingredients throughout your meal, ensuring the best texture for every slice of beef. Enjoying the hot sukiyaki with a bowl of rice is pure bliss! #100RestaurantExplorationPlan #Sukiyaki #Wagyu #NewYork #NewYorkFoodAndFun #NewYorkFoodGuide #JapaneseCuisine #NewYorkRestaurantExploration
