New York Delights • Traditional Candlelit French Cuisine Le Coucou 🌆

For our anniversary, my partner took me to Le Coucou, a one-Michelin-star French restaurant. The value for money was quite impressive! Without wine and ordering à la carte, the per-person cost was just over $100, and we left completely full. 🍽️ The restaurant's ambiance was lovely, featuring a large open kitchen where you could watch the chefs at work. The pre-meal bread and hors d'œuvres were truly authentic French touches. 🥖 🦞 Homard et rémoulade de céleri For the appetizer, I had the lobster. It was a generous piece, very satisfying. The sauce was decent, and the pairing with celery remoulade was quite refreshing and appetizing. 🦞 🦆 (Duo) Canette à l'orange This duck dish was absolutely amazing! Duck can be tricky to perfect because it's hard to balance crispy skin with tender meat. This dish nailed it. The duck breast was paired with the aroma of 🍊 orange and a red wine sauce that perfectly neutralized any gaminess. The skin was crispy and not greasy at all, with a duck heart as a garnish. The duck leg was roasted with basil, endive, and orange, and the slightly salty meat was beautifully balanced with the vegetable jus. 🦆 🍰 For dessert, we were treated to macarons and a delicious apricot-flavored cube. A perfect ending to the meal! 🍰 And on that day, my partner played a cute trick on me. He said he was leaving the house in a t-shirt and jeans, but when we got to the restaurant, he looked quite dashing. 😳 📍 138 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10013, United States #FrenchCuisine 🍔
