Went to Le Coucou with my family celebrate my birthday and as soon as I stepped inside, the lovely ambient luxury atmosphere. We were greeted by a super friendly waiter who said Happy Birthday. The service throughout, for starters, was the best of any michelin star restauraunt Ive been to because they treat you like kings, no matter the age. Everyone was visible and you will never feel like no one is paying attention. Top tier service. He first gave me a French cider drink to start and explained what it was, then bread to start, which was delicious. I got the Foie Gras with jelly and iberico ham and more ham as the starter and Quenelle de Brochet as main. Both dishes looked spectacularly elegant and works of art, especially the first dish. The Foie Gras paired very well with the ham, which was mixed into the circle shape, and the top was of some jelly mixture. It tasted soo delectably rich and melted in your mouth. The green beans didnt look like they had a lot of flavour but they most certainly did, thanks to the sauce. Everything was very creamy and soft in texture, and everything was perfectly balanced and went together, especially the jelly cubes which were a nice touch. Very ingenius way to pair the delicacy into a unique dish. The other appetiser was raw scallops and tuna, which were also incredibly rich and succilent. Paired very well with the cream sauce. The first main course we ordered was the chicken and Foie Gras which was also mouthwatering and delicious but the star of the show was the Quennele de Brochet. The lobster bisque was so foamy, creamy and paired superbly with the soft fish quenelle. It was an explosion of flavours and different tastes (salty, sourness, umami [umami because it had mushroom taste]). The brochet had a beautiful crispy like covering. The inside was like tofu and foie gras mixed together, and it melted in your mouth along with the sauce. Its like angels casting a spell and its truly magical. The trick is to eat it quickly because if you eat it too slowly, the richness gets to you and it overwhelmes you. This is a completely unique dish that Ive never seen served before at any restauraunt and is a once in a lifetime one. We got dessert; the lemon gelato with chocolate and the fruit vacherin, which they added happy birthday in chocolate and a candle. The lemon gelato was super good and had tastes of alcohol, and the vacherin was a huge variety of different textures, like that of edible snow, tart, cracker, foam and was another explosion in your mouth. It also was beautiful. It was the perfect dessert I chose because after a long rich meal, a pallate cleanser instead of a heavy chocolaty dessert is perfect. After that, we got petit fours of gummies, chocolate pieces, and mini macarons. With lunch lasting two hours, it was an incredible experience here at Le Coucou and will recommend this place for my friends and family to try. Definitely worth it for a special but relativelt affordable meal for...

Read moreA refined and unforgettable French experience in the heart of Manhattan.
I had the pleasure of dining recently at Le Coucou NYC, and the experience was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we walked in until the final sip of wine, everything about this restaurant reflects sophistication, attention to detail, and a deep respect for classic French cuisine.
We were graciously attended by Radu, who kindly and expertly recommended four standout dishes that truly defined our evening:
Canette à l’orange: The duck was perfectly roasted, juicy with crispy skin, and paired beautifully with braised endives and an orange sauce that was neither cloying nor overpowering—just nuanced and balanced. A reinvented classic, executed with great technique.
Agneau printanier: The lamb chop was cooked to perfection, bold in flavor yet refined. The wild garlic and tender young carrots added fresh and delicate notes that complemented the dish wonderfully.
Ris de veau à l’estragon: Sweetbreads are a delicacy that few can master, and this was masterfully done—crispy outside, creamy within, bathed in a luscious tarragon cream sauce that brought herbal brightness and depth.
Morilles farcies: The stuffed morel mushrooms were perhaps the biggest surprise of the night. Rich, earthy, and umami-packed, with the jamón providing the perfect salty contrast. A must-try for anyone who appreciates quality ingredients and finesse.
While waiting for our table, the bartender surprised us with a custom cocktail inspired by a Manhattan, but made with a smoother whisky instead of the typical rye. His attention to detail and willingness to tailor the drink to our taste was impressive. We were also delighted to be assisted by a Venezuelan server from San Cristóbal, whose warmth and charm made us feel truly welcome—while keeping the service polished and upscale.
The ambiance of the restaurant is subtle and elegant, with lighting designed to create intimacy and luxury in every corner. It’s ideal for a romantic dinner or a special occasion among friends or family who appreciate serious culinary craftsmanship.
Le Coucou is not just a restaurant—it’s a sensory experience. Every dish, every glass, every gesture from the staff is aligned with a vision of excellence. I will most definitely return, and I highly recommend this place to anyone reading this review. If you're looking for a dinner that blends haute cuisine, flawless service, and a sophisticated atmosphere, this...
